RECOMMENDED SUBSTRATE CONDITIONS AND TEMPERATURES

General

  • Surface preparation quality directly influences coating performance.

Atmospheric service

  • Abrasive blast: ISO Sa 2½ or SSPC SP-6
  • Power tool cleaning: ISO St 3 / SSPC SP-3
  • Hand tool cleaning: ISO St 2 / SSPC SP-2
  • UHP waterjet: SSPC SP WJ-2(L) / NACE WJ-2(L)

Immersion service

  • Steel blast cleaned to ISO Sa 2½ (SSPC SP-10)
    Profile: 40–75 µm (1.6–3.0 mils)
  • UHP waterjet SP WJ-2(L) acceptable over previous blasted surfaces

Touch-up / Repair

  • Power tool cleaning: SSPC SP-11

High Profile

  • Profiles >75 µm acceptable with increased coating thickness.

Galvanized, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals

  • Galvanized: sweep blast / roughen; ensure dryness & salt removal
  • Stainless & non-ferrous: degrease + sweep blast SSPC SP-16
Required profile: 40–100 µm (1.5–4.0 mils)

Application Temperature

  • Substrate must be ≥3°C (5°F) above dew point.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Mixing Ratio (By Volume)

Base : Hardener = 75 : 25 (3:1)

  • Add thinner after mixing
  • Do not over-thin (reduces sag resistance and slows cure)

Induction Time

None

Pot Life

2 hours at 20°C (68°F)
(See Additional Data)
