Two components, high build, self-priming surface tolerant epoxy coating.
• Designed as a maintenance coating for protection of steel in industrial environments
• Self-priming; eliminates the usage of primer
• Suitable as a touch-up coat for weld seams and damaged epoxy coating
• Can be applied on marginally prepared surfaces; tolerant to lower grades of steel preparation
• Good corrosion resistance and chemical resistance
• Can be over-coated with conventional coatings and most two-component paints
• Good adhesion to aged and sound epoxy, polyurethane and conventional alkyds
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Colour | Greys & limited range |
| Gloss | Satin |
| Volume Solids | approx. 80% |
| Recommended DFT / Coat | 75 – 125 µm |
| Theoretical Covering Capacity | 10.7 sq.mtr/ltr @ 75 µm 6.4 sq.mtr/ltr @ 125 µm |
| Drying Time at 30°C | Surface dry: 2 hours Hard dry: 12 hours Full cure: 7 days |
| Overcoating Interval @ 30°C | Min: 12 hours Max: 1 month (surface must be dry and clean) |
Notes:
• Physical values subject to normal manufacturing tolerances, colour & testing variances
• Volume solids as per ASTM D 2697 (air drying method)
• Actual drying time depends on film thickness, ventilation, humidity, temperature
• Data based on 30°C & 65% RH
• Pastel shades may require multiple coats for hiding
• Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from contaminants
• Remove dirt, dust, oil and contaminants that interfere with adhesion
• Oil & grease: remove per SSPC–SP1 solvent cleaning
• Surface must be checked & treated per ISO 8504
• Steel: Abrasive blast clean to Sa 2.5 (Swedish Specification)
• New hot rolled steel: blast clean to Sa 2
• Weathered steel: power tool clean to St 3, or hand tool clean to St 2
• Existing sound epoxy or alkyd coatings:
• Substrate temperature: ≥3°C above dew point; ≤50°C
• Relative humidity: below 85%
• Good ventilation required in confined spaces
• Supplied in two packs (base + hardener)
• Stir both components separately
• If settling is seen → hand stir, then power stir (low RPM)
• Add hardener gradually into base under continuous stirring
• Consume entire mixed unit within pot life
• Avoid part mixing (if unavoidable → seal tightly to avoid moisture entry)
• Add thinner after mixing and after induction time
• Excess thinner reduces sag resistance
| Mixing Ratio (by volume) | 5 : 1 (Base : Hardener) |
|---|---|
| Induction Time | 15 minutes |
| Pot Life @ 30°C | 2 hours |
| Parameter | Value |

| Recommended Thinner | T-141 |
| Volume of Thinner | 5 – 20%* |
| Nozzle Orifice | 0.53 – 0.66 mm (21–26 thou) |
| Nozzle Pressure | 20 – 24 MPa (200–240 atm; 2800–3400 psi) |
| Cleaning | Thinner T-141 |
Depends on film thickness & application conditions
Note: Air spray generally not recommended except for small touch-up areas
• Do not allow material to remain in hoses, gun or spray equipment
• Clean immediately with Thinner T 141
• Flush equipment periodically during the day
• Dispose of surplus material & empty containers per local regulations
• Surface discoloration may occur on exposure to sunlight, elevated temperatures or chemicals
– This does not affect anti-corrosive performance
• Not recommended for immersion in acid, alkali & solvents
• Airless spray gives maximum film build in one coat
• Brush coat typically gives 75 µm; multiple coats needed for full thickness
• Maximum performance after complete curing
• Minimum two coats recommended over prepared surface
• As with all epoxies, product will chalk & discolor on exterior exposure
– This does not harm anti-corrosive properties
20 L (Base: 16.67 L ; Hardener: 3.33 L)
• Shelf Life: At least 12 months @ 30°C (unopened), subject to inspection
• Store cool, dry, per local regulations
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Flash Point | Base: ≥24°C ; Hardener: ≥24°C |
| VOC | Approx. 160 ± 40 gm/ltr (depending on shades), per US EPA Method 24 |
| Product Weight | Approx. 1.71 ± 0.06 kg/ltr (depending on shades) |
• Avoid inhalation of solvent vapours or paint mist
• Avoid contact with skin & eyes
• Use forced ventilation in confined spaces
• Even with ventilation → respiratory, skin & eye protection always required
• Refer to MSDS before use
