Application method

Tool Parameters
Dual feed spray 150 bar [2200 psi], 0.017–0.027″

Film thickness

Low High Recommended
Dry film thickness 50 µm [2.0 mils] 100 µm [4.0 mils] 80 µm [3.2 mils]
Wet film thickness 61 µm [2.4 mils] 122 µm [4.9 mils] 98 µm [3.9 mils]
Theoretical spread rate 16 m²/L 8.2 m²/L 10 m²/L

Product may be specified in another film thickness than indicated depending on purpose and area of use. This will alter spreading rate, drying and curing time and overcoating interval. Overthickness must be closely controlled and never locally exceed 150 micron [6.0 mils] DFT. On irregular surfaces it is recommended to employ special care in avoiding over application.

Application conditions

  • Surface must be clean, dry, at least 3°C above dew point
  • Surface temperature >10°C [50°F]
  • Max material temp 60°C [140°F]
  • RH: 30–85% during application and curing

Drying and overcoating

Product compatibility

  • Previous coat: None
  • Subsequent coat: None

Drying time (for 80 µm DFT)

Surface temperature Hard dry hours
10°C [50°F] 10
20°C [68°F]
30°C [86°F] 2
40°C [104°F] 1

Drying conditions

  • Sufficient ventilation is important

Overcoating details

  • If maximum overcoating interval is exceeded, roughen surface
  • Surface must be dry and clean prior to overcoat

Other remarks

  • Epoxy chalks in outdoor exposure, does not affect performance
  • Hempel’s Specification supersedes this PDS if in conflict
