The information provided above is at 30°C and 65% relative humidity.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Surface Preparation

General

  • Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from contaminants.
  • Ensure removal of dirt, dust, oil, and other contaminants that could interfere with coating adhesion.
  • Oil and grease should be removed as per SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.
  • Surface should be checked and treated in accordance with ISO 8504 prior to priming.

Primed Surfaces

  • Suitable epoxy primer or epoxy/polyurethane undercoat; dry and free from surface contamination.
  • APCOTHANE CF 674 / APCOTHANE 674 must be applied within the specified overcoating interval of the primer/undercoat.
  • In case of aged epoxy coatings, ensure surface is clean and sufficiently roughened prior to painting.

Application Conditions

  • Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point but not above 50°C.
  • Relative humidity should be below 85%.
  • Good ventilation is required in confined areas to ensure proper curing.

Mixing

  • Supplied in two packs. Stir base and hardener separately.
  • If settling occurs, loosen material manually then mix mechanically for uniformity.
  • Gradually add hardener to base under continuous stirring as per the mixing ratio.
  • Use the mixture within the working pot life.
  • Avoid part mixing; if necessary, tightly reseal containers to prevent moisture ingress.
  • Add thinner only after mixing and induction time.
  • Excessive thinner reduces sag resistance.
Mixing Ratio (by volume) Base : Hardener = 9 : 1
Induction Time 15 minutes
Pot Life @ 30°C 4 hours

Application

Method Recommended Thinner Volume of Thinner Nozzle Orifice Nozzle Pressure
Brush / Roller T-213 0 – 5%*
Air Spray T-213 0 – 15%* 1.5 – 3.0 mm 0.3 – 0.4 MPa (≈3–4 atm; 43–57 psi)
Airless Spray T-213 0 – 10%* 0.28 – 0.33 mm 10 – 13 MPa (≈100–130 atm; 1400–1800 psi)

Note: Depending on recommended film thickness and application conditions.

Cleaning

  • Do not allow product to remain in hoses, guns, or spray equipment.
  • Clean all equipment immediately after use with Thinner T-213.
  • Periodically flush spray equipment during the working day; frequency depends on amount sprayed, temperature, and time gap.
  • Dispose of surplus material and empty containers as per local regulations.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

  • Gloss, sheen, and finish depend on application method; best gloss achieved via conventional spray.
  • Minimum two coats recommended for proper hiding and uniformity, especially with brush application.
  • Pastel shades (white/yellow/red tones) require minimum two coats for full opacity.
  • Only use recommended thinner; alternate thinners affect drying/curing.
  • Premature exposure to condensation or rain may cause colour/gloss change.
  • Not recommended for immersion conditions.
  • Extended exposure to strong chemicals or solvents may cause discoloration.

OVERCOATING

  • APCOTHANE CF 674 / 674 can be top-coated on most epoxy and polyurethane primers/undercoats as advised by Asian Paints PPG representative.
  • For weathered/aged coatings, ensure surface is free from contamination before application.
  • Adhesion on aged surfaces depends on secondary surface preparation.

PACK SIZE

  • 20 L

STORAGE

  • Shelf life: At least 12 months at 30°C in unopened pack (subject to inspection thereafter).
  • Store in a cool, dry place as per local regulations.
