DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Surface Preparation

General

  • Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from contaminants.
  • Remove dirt, dust, oil, grease per SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.
  • Surface should be checked and treated as per ISO 8504 before priming.

Primed Surfaces

  • Suitable epoxy primer or epoxy/polyurethane undercoat should be dry and contamination-free.
  • Apply Apcothane CF 678 / Apcothane 678 within the specified overcoating interval of the primer/undercoat.
  • For aged epoxy coatings, roughen the surface before painting.

Application Conditions

  • Substrate temperature ≥3°C above dew point, ≤50°C.
  • Relative humidity ≤85%.
  • Ensure good ventilation in confined areas for proper curing.

Mixing

Parameter Specification
Mixing Ratio (by volume) Base : Hardener = 5 : 1
Induction Time 15 minutes
Pot Life @ 30°C 2 hours
  • Stir base and hardener separately.
  • If settled, loosen with a hand stirrer, then mix thoroughly with a mechanical stirrer.
  • Add hardener gradually under continuous stirring.
  • Avoid part mixing; if done, close lids tightly to prevent moisture ingress.
  • Add thinner after mixing and induction time.
  • Over-thinning reduces sag resistance.

Application Methods

Method Recommended Thinner Volume of Thinner Nozzle Orifice Nozzle Pressure
Brush / Roller T-213 0 – 10%
Air Spray T-213 15 – 45% 1.5 – 3.0 mm 0.3 – 0.4 MPa (3–4 atm; 43–57 psi)
Airless Spray T-213 5 – 15% 0.28 – 0.33 mm 10 – 13 MPa (100–130 atm; 1400–1800 psi)

Note: Depending on film thickness & conditions.

Cleaning

  • Do not allow paint to remain in hoses, guns, or spray equipment.
  • Clean all equipment immediately with Thinner T-213.
  • Periodically flush spray equipment during the day.
  • Dispose of surplus material and containers per local regulations.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

  • Dry film thickness by brush: 40–50 µm/coat; by spray: 50–75 µm/coat.
  • For red/yellow/orange shades, two coats may be required for hiding on dark undercoats.
  • Excessive thickness delays drying.
  • Gloss and finish depend on application method.
  • Pastel shades (white, yellow, red tones) require at least two coats for full opacity.
  • Always use only the recommended thinner; alternate thinners affect curing.
  • Premature condensation or rain may cause colour/gloss changes.

OVERCOATING & TOPCOATS

  • Can be top-coated on most epoxy and polyurethane primers/undercoats as recommended by Asian Paints PPG representatives.

PACK SIZE

  • 20 L (Base: 16.77 L + Hardener: 3.33 L)

STORAGE

  • Shelf Life: Minimum 9 months @ 30°C in original unopened pack.
  • Store in cool, dry place as per local regulations.
