DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Surface Preparation

General

  • Can be applied directly over blasted steel substrate
  • Suitable epoxy primer: Apcodur CP 689 / Apcodur CP 682 (dry, contamination-free)
  • If recoating exceeds 5 days, surface must be roughened and cleaned prior to painting
  • Surfaces must be dry, clean, free from dust/oil/grease (remove oil/grease per SSPC-SP1)
  • Treat surface as per ISO 8504 before priming
  • Remove weld spatter, seams, and sharp edges

Blast Cleaning

  • Steel: Abrasive blast clean min. Sa 2.5 (Swedish)
  • If oxidation occurs after blasting, re-blast
  • Recommended blasting profile (Rz): 50–75 µm
  • Correct/treat any defects revealed by blasting

New Concrete Surface

  • Cure minimum 3 months
  • For severe exposure: light blasting preferred
  • Where blasting impractical: wire brushing + treat with 10% HCl acid
  • Wash thoroughly to remove acid and contaminants
  • Allow to dry before primer

Old Concrete Surface

  • Remove grease/oil with solvent or 10% caustic solution
  • Preferably light blasting, or else etch with 10% HCl acid
  • Wash thoroughly, ensure joints do not retain acid
  • Dry surface completely before primer

Note: Surface must be thoroughly dried before primer to ensure performance.

Application Conditions

  • Substrate temperature ≥3°C above dew point and ≤50°C
  • Relative humidity <85%
  • Good ventilation required in confined areas

Instruction for Use

  • Supplied in 2 packs (base + hardener). Stir both separately.
  • If settling seen, stir manually then mechanically at low RPM.
  • Add hardener gradually into base under continuous stirring.
  • Consume mixed product within pot life.
  • Avoid part mixing; if done, reseal tightly.
  • Excess thinner reduces sag resistance.

Mixing Ratio (by volume): Base:Hardener = 4:1
Induction Time: 15 minutes
Pot Life at 30°C: 3 hours

Application Methods

Airless Spray

  • Thinner: T-141
  • Volume: 5–20% (depending on thickness/conditions)
  • Nozzle: 0.43–0.58 mm (17–23 thou)
  • Pressure: 20–24 MPa (200–240 atm; 2800–3400 psi)
  • Cleaning Thinner: T-141

Brush/Roller

  • For stripe coating/small areas only
  • Thinner: T-141
  • Cleaning: T-141

Notes:

  • For single feed airless, use pump ratio 68:1
  • Clean equipment immediately after use with Thinner T-141
  • Periodic flushing of spray equipment recommended

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

  • Full cure required before service exposure
  • Product discolours on sunlight/immersion, performance unaffected
  • Adjust application parameters at site as per conditions
  • In confined tanks, control RH using dehumidifiers
  • Premature exposure to ponding water may cause colour change
  • Stripe coat required on welds/edges before full coat
  • Consult Asian Paints PPG technical representative for system recommendation

PACK SIZE

  • 20 L (Base: 16 L + Hardener: 4 L)

STORAGE

  • Shelf life: ≥12 months at 30°C (sealed pack, inspect thereafter)
  • Store in cool, dry conditions as per regulations

REGULATORY INFORMATION

  • Flash point: ≥24°C (Base & Hardener)
  • VOC: ~390 ± 20 g/l (per US EPA Method 24)
  • Product Weight: ~1.36 ± 0.05 kg/l

SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Avoid inhalation of vapours/paint mist and contact with skin/eyes
  • Forced ventilation required in confined/stagnant spaces
  • Respiratory, skin and eye protection recommended during spray
  • Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before us
